history
I began my programming journey by experimenting with C++ at the at of 13 in 2009-10, discouraged by the complexity of OOP (Object-Oriented Programming), I came back to it in 2012 with VB.Net in college. This is the point where programming clicked. I nurtured a passion and began self-teaching Java and finally conquered OOP after all these years in 2014.
I spent 2015-19 attaining a first class bachelors degree in 'Computer Science with Industrial Experience' from the 'University of Salford'. In that time I spend 15 months in between 2017-2019 at the company I work for now undertaking an industrial placement. Joining the company at such a vitally young stage was the best decision i've ever made. I was not treated as a student or a "junior" but I was treated the same way every other engineer was. Granted that was trial by fire at times but I feel it was the best experience I could have gained and prepared me the most for post-university. In my time as a placement student I contributed to many core projects in the business and given responsibilities which tested and pushed me to grow. It gave me the opportunity to work with many of the latest cloud technologies, tools, techniques, processes, and to learn for some very experienced seniors.
At the end of the industrial placement I was given an offer to work part time while finishing my final year at University in addition to coming back after I graduate. I joined as a graduate software engineer and was quickly promoted to software engineer at my 3 month review.
Here we are now in the present. My time is mostly torn between working, side-projects, airsoft, gaming, reading, analysing world politics and streaming tv shows.
